The Intro to Riding cycling group has been designed to turn any enthusiastic recreational rider into an experienced cyclist. All participants must be on a road bike or hybrid bike with slick tires. Clip pedals and cycling shoes are necessary as you will learn how to ride with these in the first few weeks. The main focus of this group is to build the technical skills and confidence so you can join any group ride comfortably and safely. If you are looking for a place to get in a good workout on a bike, please look into the Intermediate groups as that is not the focus of this group.
Where do we meet for our sessions?
Every session will have a different start location, all in the Kitsilano or UBC area. You will receive the exact location for each workout at the beginning of each month.
How long are the sessions?
Each session starts promptly at 6:30pm and will finish between 7:30 and 7:45pm.

Cycling shoes and pedals
For many, the most frightening aspect of learning how to ride a road ride is being clipped into the pedals. We want to be sure that everyone feels comfortable clipping in and out safely before we begin riding on the road. For this reason, the first few sessions outside will be held in an empty parking lot learning basic bike skills.
Do we ride in the rain?
Due to the fact that we live in a rainforest we may modify the workout for safety reasons but club rides are never cancelled unless there is thunder and lightening.
